Memberships

The Alberta Association of Seniors Centres offers two types of membership:Regular, and AssociateTo apply for Regular membership, your organization must fully meet the definition of “Seniors Centre” in the following paragraphs. Associate membership is for any individual or organization that has an interest in seniors centres in Alberta but does not fully meet the definition of “Seniors Centre”. When you have determined the level of membership that is appropriate for your organization, select one of the options on the left (below the menu) to proceed.

Seniors Centres are facilities that are:

  • located in the Province of Alberta
  • open to the public
  • designed to meet the needs of seniors

Seniors Centres provide community focal points where adults fifty five (55) and over come together for

  • services
  • information
  • programs
  • activities

that

  • maintain and improve health and quality of life
  • support personal independence
  • encourage involvement in community life

Seniors Centres are governed by an elected community-based Board of Directors or provided by a municipal government.

Fees

The membership fee for a Regular Member in AASC is calculated as $0.50 per member in your seniors centre as of January 1 of each year to a maximum of $200. For example, if your centre has 200 members as of January 1, then your membership fee for AASC would be $100. The fee for Associate Members is $100.
